The Heroes of Nentir Vale

The world has grown dark and once again the mad wizard Leahcim has appeared and he is searching for heroes to restore the balance. Is it too late though? Has the darkness taken too tight a grip on this world?

Campaign Outline

Originally the campaign was going to follow the original adventure series produced by Wizards of the Coast for the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition game. It begins with the adventure presented in the Dungeon Master’s Guide and continues from there into Keep on the Shadowfell. As the campaign progresses the story seems to be taking on a life of its own and I am completely fine with that. So while I intend to guide the party towards the other adventure modules in this series I will not fight the players if they go somewhere else.

To arms!

DMG – The Kobold Hall
Stella, Patara and Zorak respond to the Lord Warden of Fallcrest’s call for adventurers and set out to end the kobold menace plaguing the town.

Treasure of Talon Pass
Traveling north in search for the source of the kobold threat they find themselves tested by Leahcim to prove they are the heroes the wizard has been searching for.

H1 – Keep on the Shadowfell
Aware of the growing hostilities between the Raven Queen and Orcus the party ventures into Winterhaven to find the source of the kobold incursions and to search for any death cult influences in the town.

  • H1-1 The party travels to Winterhaven and encounters more kobold threats.

H2 – Thunderspire Labyrinth

H3 – Pyramid of Shadows

P1 – King of the Trollhaunt Warrens

P2 – Demon Queen’s Enclave

P3 – Assault on Nightwyrm Fortress

E1 – Death’s Reach

E2 – Kingdom of the Ghouls

E3 – Prince of Undeath

House Rules

  • Depending on the structure of the encounter I will cut a monster’s hit point total in half.
  • Experience Points (XP) have been removed from the game. I will notify the party when they have leveled up. EDIT: Experience points have gone back into the game. In the end the players decided they loved to collect them and I am fine with that.
  • When a minion attacks and the DM rolls a natural 20 their damage output is doubled.

The “Surges Per Day Removed” house rule was rescinded. After some game time with the new house rule it was learned that the players enjoyed surges as a finite resource.
